How to Change or Set Default Search Engine in Google Chrome?

If you’re not careful when installing certain programs, you may allow them to change your default Chrome search engine. This can happen if you miss the “fine print” in the installation wizard. For example, this might happen when installing Skype. Unless you uncheck a box related to Bing search engine, the program will change your default settings.

However, sometimes the reason why this happens is that a computer virus is making changes in your browser’s settings. Whatever the reason might be, you should know that solving this problem is not hard. In fact, there are two ways to do it, both of which can be very quick.

The first one is to call our Chrome technical support Australia and have them help you with this issue. The people from Chrome support team will guide you through the whole process, ensuring that it’s properly taken care of.

The other way is to restore change Google Chrome search engine settings on your own. If that is your choice, here’s what you need to do:

  • Step 1 – Click the option “Customize and control Google Chrome”, which is in the top-right corner of the browser (three dots)
  • Step 2 – Click “Settings” in the drop-down menu
  • Step 3 – Once a new page opens, scroll down a bit to find the section “Search engine”
  • Step 4 – Click “Manage search engines”

A new page will open, showing you a list of available search engines and their hierarchy. The search engine on the top that’s in bold letters is the one currently in use.

If you want to change it, all you need to find its replacement in the list and make it default. In order to do this, just click on “More actions…” (three dots), which is right next to its name. All that’s left is to click “Make default” in the menu.
